Why me

I understand the cost of silence.

After more than a decade in B2B tech sales and leadership, most recently as Global Head of Partner Sales at Amazon, I decided to leave the familiar for the unknown. What happened next was an unexpected call to look inward. I suddenly realized I had spent my life on autopilot, resisting a past I pretended didn’t exist, and I knew that if I ever wanted to move forward, I would have to look backward. So I did.

Everyone’s healing journey looks different. Some find peace. Some find a sense of adventure. I found yuli.

I began asking what it would take to make starting a difficult conversation easier for a child. I bring experience building partnerships and leading teams, and a personal commitment to this work. I am now seeking clinical advisors to help shape the content, approach, and prototype before children use it.

I cannot change what silence has already cost. But I can put my experience and energy toward giving children a way to begin. That is why I am building yuli.

The story behind the name

It is no coincidence the name yuli found me. Yuli is also the name of a town in Taiwan where my mother’s family found refuge after fleeing China following years of devastating warfare. The trauma of that displacement is unimaginable, but in her culture, you don’t speak of it; you carry on in silence. Sometimes I think I am building yuli not just so children can find their voices, but so my ancestors can finally find theirs, too.

In classical Chinese, the idiom 玉立 describes a child standing upright in radiant, quiet dignity. For millennia, jade (玉) has been placed on children as a protective talisman. Its highest cultural value lies not in surface shine, but in its translucence: its ability to let light pass through so its inner purity can be seen.

The name yuli (玉立) is both a mission and a mirror. I built yuli to do exactly that. It is a platform where a child’s inner truth, experience, and voice finally become visible to the outside world.
